Rumours about the NVIDIA RTX 5060 series

Interesting new developments for the affordable graphics card segment.

According to Wccftech, new information has emerged regarding the GeForce RTX 5060 series. NVIDIA is said to be developing two distinct models in this range, following the trend established with the cards from the current generation. This would bring the total number of known Blackwell series variants to six.

The RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti are said to share the same reference card PG152, and they will likely use the GPU GB206, although the exact specifications, such as the number of CUDA cores, remain unknown.

What about the improvements?

Memory represents the main upgrade, but more in terms of speed than capacity or memory bus width. The RTX 5060 Ti could include 16GB of GDDR7 memory, while the RTX 5060 would be limited to 8GB, still with a 128-bit memory bus. Although some users may be disappointed by this limited capacity, GDDR7 technology should increase bandwidth to 488 GB/s, a 69% improvement over the RTX 4060.

Technical details still unclear

Specifications for CUDA cores, new technologies, power consumption (TDP) or PCIe bandwidth have not yet been revealed. However, these models are likely to adhere to PCIe 5.0 standards and could offer higher clock speeds, thereby improving performance.

Limited memory for modern gaming

Limiting the RTX 5060 to 8GB of VRAM could disappoint gamers looking to play at 1440p, as was seen with the Arc B580 series. That said, this information is only speculation, and configurations could still change. NVIDIA might consider a 96-bit bus and 10GB of VRAM if needed.

So, when is it due?

The RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060 are expected to launch in February or March 2025, although some rumours have mentioned a release in the second quarter of 2025.

It remains to be seen where these two NVIDIA models will sit compared with their rivals at AMD and Intel.
