Gaming PC 1200 €: the best setup in 2026

By the FlowUP team, gaming PC builder in Genappe (Belgium) · Updated 28 September 2026

In short: with €1200 in 2026, aim for a 6 to 8-core processor (Ryzen 7 5700X, Core i5-12400F or Ryzen 5 7500F), a graphics card RTX 5060 Ti or RX 9060 XT, ideally 16 GB, 16 GB of RAM in dual-channel, a 1 TB NVMe SSD and a quality 650 W power supply. You can then play comfortably at 1080p with high settings, and at 1440p in many games with DLSS or FSR.

What is a €1200 gaming PC worth in 2026?

€1200 is the point where a gaming PC stops being a compromise. Below that budget, you often end up cutting back on the graphics card or storage. Above it, you mainly pay for very high 1440p or 4K.

At this price, the right setup does everything in 1080p, handles 144 Hz and more in competitive games, and opens the door to 1440p. The RAM price increase since the start of the year simply makes the balance even more important: every euro has to go where you actually see it on screen.

For €1200, the graphics card deserves the largest share of the budget.

A clean build, neatly routed cables and good airflow: at €1200, the finish matters as much as the specs.

Which processor for a €1200 gaming PC?

Three processors are a good fit for this budget. Intel’s Core i5-12400F (6 cores, 12 threads, up to 4.4 GHz) remains a safe choice for pure gaming. AMD’s Ryzen 7 5700X (8 cores, 16 threads, up to 4.6 GHz) keeps more headroom for streaming or running applications in parallel. The Ryzen 5 7500F (6 cores, 12 threads, up to 5.0 GHz) moves to the AM5 platform with DDR5, newer and easier to upgrade.

At €1200, there’s no need to go higher: a processor that’s too powerful for the graphics card won’t deliver more FPS at 1080p or 1440p. If you’re torn between the two brands, our comparison Intel or AMD for a gaming PC in 2026 takes stock.

Which graphics card for a €1200 gaming PC?

It’s the graphics card that makes the gaming PC. In this budget range, two models stand out: NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5060 Ti (DLSS 4 with image generation, good ray tracing) and AMD’s Radeon RX 9060 XT (FSR 4, excellent performance/price ratio). Both come in 8 GB and 16 GB of video memory.

Our view: if the budget allows, go for the 16 GB version. At 1440p and in big, recent games, 8 GB video memory quickly reaches its limit. To go further, read which GPU to buy in 2026 despite rising prices.

RAM and SSD: 16 GB and 1 TB, are they enough?

Yes. 16 GB of RAM in dual-channel covers the vast majority of games in 2026; 32 GB only makes sense at this budget if you stream or play very demanding simulators. With the memory price increase, that’s not where you should put your money. The details are in our article 16 or 32 GB of RAM in 2026.

As for storage, a 1 TB NVMe SSD is the right baseline: some big, recent games exceed 100 GB, and 500 GB fills up after just a few installations. To choose the model, see how to choose your SSD in 2026.

Which games and what performance with a €1200 gaming PC?

For competitive games, a €1200 setup is well above the requirements. Riot Games asks, for example, for a Core i5-9400F and a GTX 1050 Ti to target 144 FPS and more in Valorant: an RTX 5060 Ti or an RX 9060 XT is far ahead. The same logic applies to Fortnite, Counter-Strike 2 or Rocket League, where you can aim for a 144 to 240 Hz monitor.

For big recent games, count on 1080p on high settings in most titles, and on 1440p in many of them by enabling DLSS or FSR. To see one of our PCs in action, here’s a gaming test of our Rift PC (Radeon RX 9060 XT) by Mathis and Gauthier:

Build your gaming PC for €1,200 or buy it pre-built?

With this budget, one mistake is costly: an undersized power supply, a motherboard that doesn’t recognise the CPU without a BIOS update, and poorly installed RAM that runs in single-channel. And building it yourself also takes time and a bit of method.

A pre-built and tested gaming PC saves you all of that: the configuration is balanced from the start, assembled and tested, and you can start gaming as soon as it arrives. We compared the two options in build your PC or buy it pre-assembled.
