In brief: Corsair is an American brand founded in 1994, known for its Vengeance RAM, its power supplies, water cooling solutions, cases and peripherals. According to Wikipedia, it holds around 44% of the gaming memory module market. Its real strength for a gaming PC is its ecosystem: the iCUE software controls lighting, fans and cooling, and iCUE LINK connects compatible components using a single type of cable. Our view: it’s a safe bet if you want a PC that’s highly customisable, but the brand matters less than the specific model of each part.
Corsair in a few words
Founded in 1994 in California under the name Corsair Microsystems, the brand started out with RAM before expanding its range to power supplies, cooling, cases, SSDs and gaming peripherals. It also acquired several well-known brands from gamers and creators: Elgato (2018), Origin PC and SCUF Gaming (2019), and then the Fanatec range (2024).
In a gaming PC you mainly come across Corsair across four families of parts: memory (Vengeance, Dominator), the power supply, water cooling and the fans, plus a few cases.

One of our PCs built in a Corsair case, with the brand’s fans and water cooling.
iCUE: one single software for lighting and cooling
The iCUE software is the real strong point of the ecosystem. It lets you adjust the RGB lighting of Corsair components and peripherals, control fan speeds and the water-cooling pump according to temperature, and monitor the PC’s temperatures. Everything is configured in the same place, with profiles you can change with one click.
The flip side: iCUE works best with Corsair hardware. If your PC mixes several brands, you’ll often end up with multiple software packages, or you’ll rely on the motherboard’s settings.
iCUE LINK: fewer cables, a cleaner build
Launched in 2023, iCUE LINK changes the way cooling is wired: fans, water cooling and compatible accessories plug into each other with a single type of cable, and route back to a small control box. Result: far fewer wires behind the motherboard, and a faster, cleaner build.
For a builder like us, it’s a real time-saver on builds with lots of fans. The trade-off is that the ecosystem is closed: an iCUE LINK fan can only connect to an iCUE LINK system. If you plan to add parts later, stick with the same range.

Water cooling and fans from the same ecosystem: simpler wiring and a single software.
Corsair, a good brand for a gaming PC?
| Family | Examples of ranges | What you need to know |
|---|---|---|
| Memory (RAM) | Vengeance, Dominator | Very widespread, XMP and EXPO profiles, wide RGB choice |
| Power supply (PSU) | RM, HX ranges | Good reputation; compare the certification and warranty of each model |
| Water cooling | iCUE, iCUE LINK ranges | iCUE integration, LCD screens on certain models |
| Fans | RX, LL, QX ranges | Carefully handled lighting, iCUE control |
| Cases | 4000D, 5000D, 6500 ranges | Good airflow on mesh versions |
Our view as a builder: Corsair is a safe bet, but no brand is perfect across its whole range. A budget power supply is still a budget power supply, whatever the logo. Look at the exact model, its certification, its warranty and independent tests. For memory, read DDR4 or DDR5 in 2026 and 16 GB or 32 GB ; for the power supply, how to choose your power supply.
