Black Ops 6: release date and what followed
Announced at the June 2024 Xbox Games Showcase, Black Ops 6 is the first Call of Duty released straight into Game Pass, following Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision. Its campaign takes place in the early 1990s, during the Gulf War, and it marked the return of Zombies in “rounds” form, as well as the arrival of omnimovement, which lets you sprint and dive in all directions.
It has since been followed by Black Ops 7, and the next instalment, Modern Warfare 4, launches in October 2026. Everything you need for these two games is in our article What PC to play Call of Duty in 2026.

Black Ops 6 runs on a mid-range PC, and the following episodes aren’t much more demanding.

Our assembler’s take: the recommended configuration is enough to play, but not to fully take advantage of a high-refresh-rate display. In multiplayer, aim instead for a current-generation card with 16 GB of video memory, a recent processor and 16 GB of RAM. All our PCs far exceed this configuration.
Rift PC: RX 9060 XT 16 GB
Ryzen 5 7500F or 7500X3D, RX 9060 XT 16 GB and DDR5: Black Ops 6 and 7 in 1080p at high refresh rates.
