NVIDIA RTX 4060 Ti : Introducing the new generation of GPUs
The new, eagerly awaited NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is almost here. NVIDIA has announced that the card will be released on 24 May 2023, with a suggested retail price of 399 USD.
Here’s everything you need to know about this promising graphics card.
NVIDIA RTX 4060 Ti : a high-end GPU for a new generation of gaming
NVIDIA has once again stepped up its game with the release of the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, a high-end graphics card that is ready to redefine the gaming experience. Building on the success of its predecessor, the RTX 3060 Ti, the RTX 4060 Ti brings several significant improvements, setting new standards for graphics performance.
What are the technical specifications of the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti graphics card ?
The RTX 4060 Ti is based on the Ada Lovelace architecture, NVIDIA’s current generation, which is built on a 5 nm process. The card’s GPU is the AD106, which includes 4,352 CUDA cores. Although this figure is slightly lower than the 4,864 cores of the RTX 3060 Ti, the RTX 4060 Ti makes up for this shortfall with a higher boosted clock speed of 2.54 GHz, compared with 1.67 GHz for the 3060 Ti.
This new graphics card comes with 8 GB of GDDR6 VRAM, with a 128-bit memory bus width. In terms of power consumption, the RTX 4060 Ti is rated at a maximum of 160 W. The ports available on the card include 1x HDMI 2.1 and 3x DisplayPort 1.4a, and it uses a PCI-Express 4.0 x8 interface. Everything is housed in a compact form factor of 240 mm x 111 mm x 40 mm, with a dual-slot cooling solution.
New graphics card architecture and new performance thanks to DLSS 3
The RTX 4060 Ti is built on NVIDIA’s latest Ada Lovelace architecture, which represents a major upgrade over its predecessor, the Ampere architecture used in the RTX 3000 series.
The Ada Lovelace architecture is built on a 5 nm process node, smaller than the 8 nm node used in Ampere. This makes it possible to pack more transistors into the GPU, enabling faster data processing and better performance in demanding workloads.
What are the gaming performances of the RTX 4060 Ti ? (1080p, 1440p, 2160p)
The RTX 4060 Ti is a high-end graphics card designed to deliver excellent gaming performance. It can comfortably handle games at resolutions of 1920x1080, 2560x1440 and even 3840x2160, i.e. a 4K resolution.
The card also supports cutting-edge technologies such as ray tracing and DLSS. It is equipped with 4th-generation Tensor cores to support DLSS 3, which allows the graphics card to use artificial intelligence to generate entire frames for compatible games, resulting in a significant improvement in performance. In addition, the RTX 4060 Ti features 3rd-generation ray tracing cores, which, according to NVIDIA, deliver up to twice the ray tracing performance compared with the previous generation.
Coming soon
While we eagerly await the launch of the RTX 4060 Ti, there are still unanswered questions. We don’t yet have any information on whether there will be RTX 4060 Ti models with more VRAM, on how it compares with AMD’s competing cards, on the impact on system temperature and noise, on the type of power supply required, on the availability of a laptop version, or on the different manufacturers offering versions of the RTX 4060 Ti.
Nevertheless, with the specifications and features that have already been announced, the NVIDIA RTX 4060 Ti looks like a very promising graphics card!
