Gaming performance of the RTX 5060
In 1080p, the RTX 5060 performs better than the RTX 4060 it replaces and matches the RTX 4060 Ti and the RTX 3070. At 1440p, it keeps this lead as long as the video memory doesn’t max out.

The RTX 5060 targets Full HD gaming first, with high settings.
RTX 5060 benchmark: TechSpot’s numbers
TechSpot tested the card across 18 games with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D (test published on 22 May 2025). Result: the RTX 5060 is 22% faster than the RTX 4060 in 1080p and 27% faster in 1440p, matching the RTX 4060 Ti and the RTX 3070. The site also estimates a cost of $5.35 per frame displayed at the recommended price.
The only limitation noted: its 8 GB. In some recent demanding titles running in ultra at 1440p, the video memory maxes out. Lowering textures by one step solves the issue, and it’s rarely a problem in 1080p. Our guide 8 Go, 12 Go or 16 Go of VRAM details the games concerned.
To see it running in games, the YouTuber OtaXou published a full test of the RTX 5060 (ASUS Dual model):
DLSS 4, ray tracing and Reflex 2
This is the biggest advantage of the RTX 5060 over older cards: DLSS 4 and its multi-image generation, reserved for RTX 50. The AI calculates several intermediate frames between two rendered images, multiplying the number of frames per second in supported games.

Reflex 2 reduces the delay between your click and the displayed image, an actual plus in competitive games. The 4th-generation RT cores make ray tracing playable in 1080p, especially with DLSS in Quality or Performance mode. To fine-tune everything properly, read our comparison DLSS 4.5 vs FSR Redstone.

Ray tracing and DLSS are supported by a long list of recent games.
RTX 5060 vs RTX 4060, RTX 5060 Ti and RX 9060 XT
The RTX 5060 takes the place of the RTX 4060 with a real jump in performance, for a launch price that’s almost identical.
| Card | Against the RTX 5060 | Source |
|---|---|---|
| RTX 4060 | 22% slower in 1080p, 27% slower in 1440p | TechSpot, May 2025 |
| RTX 4060 Ti | equivalent performance | TechSpot, May 2025 |
| RTX 3070 | equivalent performance | TechSpot, May 2025 |
RTX 5060 vs 4060
At near-launch price, the RTX 5060 delivers over 20% more performance, GDDR7 memory, and the DLSS 4 multi-image generation, missing on the RTX 4060. If you’re torn between the two, the RTX 5060 wins without a doubt.
RTX 5060 or RTX 5060 Ti
The RTX 5060 Ti, especially in the 16GB version, is the logical step up for playing at 1440p in ultra settings without keeping an eye on video memory. We test it in the Swift PC. Our article on the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB takes stock of this card.
RTX 5060 vs RX 9060 XT
At AMD, the Radeon RX 9060 XT is available in 8GB and 16GB. The RTX 5060 keeps the edge with DLSS 4 and multi-image generation, while the RX 9060 XT 16GB’s advantage is the memory. We also put this card together, in the PC Spike RX 9060 XT.
RTX 5060 price and RTX 5060 gaming PCs
NVIDIA launched the RTX 5060 at $299. At the time of its review, TechSpot found it for around $330 in the United States. In Europe, the price of a standalone card depends on the model and the retailer; the easiest way to get gaming straight away is a complete, built-and-tested RTX 5060 gaming PC.

What power supply and what processor for an RTX 5060?
NVIDIA recommends a 550 W PSU for the RTX 5060, powered via a single 8-pin PCIe connector. A good 550 to 650 W PSU is therefore more than enough. To check yours, follow our guide to find out whether your PC power supply is sufficient.

One 8-pin PCIe cable is enough to power the RTX 5060.
On the CPU side, there’s no need to go for the high end in 1080p. In our RTX 5060 PCs, we pair it with an Intel Core i5-12400F, an AMD Ryzen 5 5600 or a Ryzen 7 5700X, three processors that let it shine in games.

FAQ about the RTX 5060
Is the RTX 5060 good for gaming in 1440p?
Yes, in most games: TechSpot measures it 27% ahead of the RTX 4060 at 1440p, on par with a RTX 4060 Ti. In the most demanding ultra settings, enable DLSS or drop textures by one level to stay within its 8GB.
RTX 5060 8GB: is that enough in 2026?
In 1080p, yes in the vast majority of games. In 1440p with ultra textures, a few recent titles go beyond 8GB, then just lower the texture quality by one step. To have some margin, the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is the right option.
What’s the difference between the RTX 5060 and the RTX 4060?
According to TechSpot, the RTX 5060 is 22% faster in 1080p and 27% faster in 1440p. It moves to GDDR7 memory and supports the DLSS 4 multi-image generation, which the RTX 4060 doesn’t offer.
RTX 5060 price: how much does it cost?
Its launch price is $299 (NVIDIA). In Europe, the price of the standalone card varies depending on the model; our RTX 5060 gaming PCs show their up-to-date price on their product page.
What power supply for an RTX 5060?
NVIDIA recommends 550 W. With a 145 W card and a single 8-pin connector, a good 550 to 650 W power supply is enough, even with a mid-range processor.
