NVIDIA RTX 5000 series: release dates, prices and specifications across the entire range

By the FlowUP team, gaming PC builder in Genappe (Belgium) · Updated 29 September 2026

In short: NVIDIA’s RTX 5000 series (RTX 50), Blackwell architecture, was announced at CES on 6 January 2025. The RTX 5090 and 5080 launched on 30 January 2025, followed by the RTX 5070 Ti (20 February), 5070 (5 March), 5060 Ti (16 April), 5060 (19 May) and 5050 (1 July 2025). US launch prices: from $249 (RTX 5050) to $1,999 (RTX 5090). Their big new feature is DLSS 4’s Multi Frame Generation, which can generate up to three images per calculated frame, six with DLSS 4.5 since March 2026. The RTX 50 Super models were never announced.

RTX 5000: the key things to know

Before launch, rumours claimed that the RTX 50 would be made using 3nm chips by the end of 2024. The reality is a bit different: the mainstream Blackwell chips are manufactured in TSMC 4N, a variant of 5nm, and the lineup arrived between January and July 2025. The whole range moves to GDDR7 memory, except the RTX 5050, which stayed with GDDR6.

Raw performance gains vary by model: in Tom’s Hardware’s ranking, the RTX 5070 is about 24% faster than an RTX 4070 in 1440p. The biggest change is software: multi-frame generation, reserved for this generation.

Two cards deserve a mention. The RTX 5060 Ti exists in 8 and 16 GB: for gaming in 2026, the 16GB version is the only one worth recommending. And the RTX 5070 Ti uses the same chip and the 16 GB from the RTX 5080, which often makes it the most balanced card in the lineup for demanding 1440p. We’ve covered it in RTX 5070 Ti: is 16GB of VRAM enough?.

What stands out: without ray tracing, the RTX 5070 Ti and the RX 9070 XT are evenly matched. With ray tracing, the RTX 50 series takes the lead. And the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB lands at the level of an RTX 4070. For the full head-to-head between the two brands, read AMD vs NVIDIA in 2026, and for the RTX 5070 in detail our review of the RTX 5070.

DLSS 4 and Multi Frame Generation: the real new feature

DLSS 4 brings Multi Frame Generation: the card can generate up to three intermediate frames for each frame that is actually rendered (4x mode). Since 31 March 2026, DLSS 4.5 scales up to six times, still reserved for RTX 50. And since 3 September 2026, the RTX 50 are also the only ones to benefit from DLSS 5, a neural rendering of lighting and materials introduced in NBA 2K27. The RTX 40 keep single-frame generation and benefit from the new upscaling model.

Use it wisely: the generated images make the display feel smoother, but they don’t improve responsiveness, and latency increases. It’s ideal for a single-player game that’s already around 60 FPS on a high-refresh display, but far less suitable for competitive FPS. All the details in DLSS 4.5 vs FSR Redstone.

And the RTX 50 Super models?

NVIDIA has never announced an RTX 50 Super. According to industry sources reported in early 2026, they would have been postponed without a date, in a context of a memory shortage. The next generation is not expected before 2027 at the earliest, based on rumours. In other words, the current lineup will remain the reference for a while yet.
