Buying a gaming PC in Switzerland: delivery, VAT and customs in 2026

Ordering from Switzerland, final price, customs clearance and practical tips

By the FlowUP team, gaming PC builder in Genappe (Belgium) · Updated 29 September 2026

In short: yes, you can order a FlowUP gaming PC from Switzerland. It’s delivered by UPS and billed without Belgian VAT, as this is an export outside the European Union. On arrival, you pay the Swiss VAT of 8.1%, calculated on the value of the PC and shipping, plus the customs clearance fees charged by the carrier. Good news: since 1 January 2024, Switzerland no longer charges customs duties on industrial products. To see whether it’s worth it, always compare the final delivered price, not the advertised one.

Buying your gaming PC in Switzerland or in the European Union?

In Switzerland, major retailers like Digitec Galaxus or Interdiscount and several local assemblers sell gaming PCs, with the advantage of prices in francs and after-sales service on site. Ordering from a neighbouring European Union country can be worthwhile when the configuration isn’t available locally or when the final price remains lower.

The key is to compare what you’ll truly pay once the parcel is at your place: price, shipping, Swiss VAT and the carrier’s customs clearance fees. A lower advertised price can end up costing more once everything is added up, and the reverse is also true.

How much does importing a PC into Switzerland cost?

Three items are added to the price of the PC billed without VAT:

  • Swiss VAT at 8.1%, the standard rate since 1 January 2024. It’s calculated on the value of the goods, including shipping costs.
  • Customs duties: zero. Since 1 January 2024, Switzerland has abolished customs duties on industrial products (chapters 25 to 97 of the customs tariff, where computer equipment is listed).
  • The carrier’s customs clearance fees, which each carrier sets freely. For example, Swiss Post charges 13 CHF plus 3% of the value for a parcel coming from the EU, with a maximum of 70 CHF. Check the carrier’s rate.

Fictional example: for a PC billed at €1,000 without VAT with €30 shipping, Swiss VAT is about 8.1% of €1,030 (i.e. about €83), to which the carrier’s customs clearance fees are added.

What you need to know before ordering

  • After-sales service goes via the border. In case of return or repair, the PC will be sent back to Belgium. Keep the original packaging, it’s designed for shipping.
  • The keyboard. If you buy a keyboard at the same time, check the layout: the Swiss keyboard (QWERTZ) is not AZERTY like the Belgian or French layout.
  • Windows. Our PCs are delivered with Windows 11 Pro in trial version, which you just activate with your licence. The language can be changed in the settings.
  • The power plug. A PC bought in the European Union is generally delivered with a European power cable, which doesn’t fit a Swiss Type J socket: plan for an adapter or a Swiss cable.

Each PC is assembled and tested in our Genappe workshop before shipping.
