Which PC to play Overwatch in 2026?

Required specs, high FPS and recommended PCs

By the FlowUP team, gaming PC builder in Genappe (Belgium) · Updated 29 September 2026

In short: Overwatch (the “2” disappeared from the name in February 2026) is a lightweight game: Blizzard’s recommended setup is only a Core i7 or Ryzen 5, a GTX 1060 and 8 GB of RAM. But for competitive play, the target isn’t 60 FPS: pros aim for 400 FPS and more on 240 to 360 Hz screens, and the game can go up to 600 FPS. At this level, the processor matters as much as the graphics card. Our advice: a fast, recent processor (a Ryzen X3D ideally), a mid-range card, 16 GB of RAM in dual-channel, and NVIDIA Reflex enabled.

Overwatch in 2026: what’s changed

Blizzard dropped the “2” on 10 February 2026: the game is simply called Overwatch again, with season numbering starting back at 1 and a story arc spanning the whole year, “Reign of Talon”, along with ten new heroes. It’s available on PC (Battle.net and Steam), PlayStation, Xbox and, since April 2026, Switch 2, with cross-play.

Technically, the game still runs on the same lightweight engine, designed to run fast. That’s what makes it a very high-FPS game on PC.

Competitive play: aim for high FPS

The recommended setup is meant for smooth gameplay, not competitive play. According to ProSettings’ analysis (September 2026), most pros play on 360 Hz screens, and the site recommends aiming for 400 FPS or more. The game’s cap is 600 FPS since Overwatch 2. At these speeds, it’s often the processor that hits the limit: ProSettings cites a Core i7-14700K or better as a reference.

  • Enable NVIDIA Reflex if you have a GeForce graphics card: the game supports it to reduce latency.
  • On the Radeon side, FSR 4 was added to the game in February 2026 for RX 9000 cards.
  • Two RAM sticks: in dual channel, frame rates are noticeably more stable. We explain it in DDR4 or DDR5 in 2026.
  • Check your monitor’s refresh rate in Windows: a 240 Hz screen set to 60 Hz is more common than you might think.

Which PC for Overwatch depending on your screen

Your screenRecommended setupSettings
1080p, 144 HzRTX 5060 or RX 9060 XT, a recent 6-core processor, 16 GBMedium to high settings
1080p, 240 HzRTX 5060 Ti or RX 9060 XT 16 GB, fast processor (ideally Ryzen X3D)Low settings, Reflex enabled
1080p or 1440p, 360 HzRTX 5070 or RX 9070 XT, Ryzen 7 9800X3DCompetitive settings, no FPS limit below the screen refresh rate

Our take, given that there are no recent independent tests on Overwatch with the current cards: the recommendations published by NVIDIA at the release of Overwatch 2 (an RTX 3060 for 144 FPS and up in 1080p) are a guideline, and the 2026 cards mentioned above are at least on par with that level.
