The RTX 5070 is the graphics card NVIDIA places at the heart of the market: built for 1440p, more affordable than the RTX 5070 Ti, with DLSS 4 and Multi Frame Generation as its headline feature. It's the ‘sensible’ card of the Blackwell generation, which is why we fit it in several of our gaming PCs.
We’ve pulled together the measurements published since its release to answer a simple question: is the RTX 5070 worth it in 2026, on its own or in a gaming PC?

- The RTX 5070 is more or less on par with the older RTX 4070 Super: a 1% difference at 1440p, according to TechSpot.

RTX 5070 review: a good card in 2026?
Yes, and it's one of the most balanced cards for 1440p. It runs today's games comfortably at that resolution, matches an RTX 4070 Super (a 1% difference according to TechSpot), and DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation gives it real headroom in the games that support it.
Day to day, NVIDIA's ecosystem makes the difference: DLSS 4, Reflex for lower latency and the NVENC encoder if you stream. It also keeps the upper hand in path-traced games. In pure rasterisation, an RX 9070 XT is faster; the RTX 5070 answers with its technologies.

In shops, you’ll often see it listed as “RTX 5070 12GB”: it’s the same card, as there’s only one memory version.
Performance: what the benchmarks measure
In terms of raw power, it moves past the older RTX 4070 Super and clearly outpaces the RTX 5060 Ti. The gaps below come from published tests with a detailed methodology.

In short: for high-refresh 1440p gaming, it's comfortable in the vast majority of games. At 4K, DLSS 4 takes over; for native 4K without compromise, the RTX 5070 Ti is the next step up.

RTX 5070 vs 5070 Ti
According to Tom's Hardware, the RTX 5070 Ti is 20% faster at 1440p and 24% faster at 4K, with 16 GB of memory, but it also sits a step higher in price. For 1440p, the RTX 5070 offers the best balance between price and frame rate; if you're aiming for native 4K, the 5070 Ti takes over.
RTX 5070 vs 5060 Ti
Against the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB, the gap is clear: 31% in the 5070's favour at 1440p according to Tom's Hardware. For 1440p gaming, the RTX 5070 is clearly the better choice; the 5060 Ti remains a 1080p card.
RTX 5070 vs 4070 Super
TechSpot measures a 1% difference at 1440p and 5% at 4K across 16 games, in the RTX 5070's favour. For a new PC, it's the one we pick: the same baseline performance, plus DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation, which RTX 40 cards lack.
RTX 5070 vs RX 9070 XT
Against the RX 9070 XT, TechSpot (September 2026 update, 52 games) measures the AMD card as faster in rasterisation, by 24% at 1440p, with 16 GB of VRAM. The RTX 5070 takes the lead back as soon as path tracing comes into play: 32% better in Doom: The Dark Ages at 1440p, and it keeps DLSS 4 and NVENC. Our verdict
For 1440p gaming with NVIDIA's full ecosystem (DLSS 4, Reflex, NVENC for streaming, path tracing), the RTX 5070 is an excellent choice: that's why we fit it in our Umbra, Novara and Rivals PCs. If you mostly play without those technologies and aim for 4K, take a look at our RX 9070 XT PCs too.
12 GB of VRAM: is that enough?
Yes at 1440p, the resolution it was designed for: its 12 GB of GDDR7 is enough in the vast majority of games. In the rare titles that demand the most at maximum settings (TechSpot cites Mafia: The Old Country and Star Wars Outlaws), lowering textures by one notch solves it.

RTX 5070 power draw and PSU requirements
NVIDIA quotes 250 W for this card and recommends a 650 W power supply for the whole PC. That’s 70 W more than the RTX 5060 Ti (180 W according to Tom’s Hardware). With a mid-range CPU, a solid 650 to 750 W power supply is enough, with headroom for consumption spikes.
As for the CPU, you don’t need the most expensive one: in our PCs, it’s paired with processors ranging from a Ryzen 5 7500F to a Ryzen 7 9800X3D. For 1440p between 60 and 144 frames per second, a Ryzen 5 is enough; for a high-refresh-rate display in competitive games, an X3D processor prevents the card from being bottlenecked.
RTX 5070 price: card only or a full PC bundle?
It launched at a recommended price of $549. Prices have moved since: in September 2026, TechSpot found models starting at $800 in the United States. In euros, the price depends on the model and stock: compare on the day you buy rather than relying on a fixed figure.

Is the RTX 5070 a good graphics card?
Yes, it's an excellent card for 1440p: it matches the RTX 4070 Super, brings DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation and keeps NVIDIA's edge in path tracing and streaming (NVENC).
RTX 5070 Founders Edition or a partner model?
The RTX 5070 Founders Edition is the model designed by NVIDIA itself. Partner models (ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte…) use the same chip and the same 12 GB; they differ in cooling, noise, size and sometimes a slight factory overclock. Choose one that fits your case and stays quiet under load; in a FlowUP PC, that choice is already made and tested for you.
What power supply for an RTX 5070?
NVIDIA recommends 650 W for the full PC. A quality 650 to 750 W power supply provides some headroom.
Which processor for an RTX 5070?
A Ryzen 5 7500F is enough for 1440p. For a 165 Hz (or higher) monitor in competitive games, an X3D processor (7500X3D, 7800X3D or 9800X3D) lets you get the most out of the card.
Can the RTX 5070 play in 4K?
Yes, thanks to DLSS 4, which makes 4K playable in supported games. For native 4K at maximum settings, the RTX 5070 Ti is the next step up.
