Which PC to play Ghost of Tsushima in 4K? Setup and FPS in 2026

By the FlowUP team, gaming PC builder in Genappe (Belgium) · Updated 29 September 2026

In brief: to play Ghost of Tsushima in 4K at 60 FPS on Very High settings, Sony and Nixxes recommend a RTX 4080 or an RX 7900 XT, a Core i5-11400 or a Ryzen 5 5600, and 16 GB of RAM. In 2026, a RX 9070 XT, an RTX 5070 Ti or an RTX 5080 exceeds 70 FPS in 4K in TechPowerUp tests. With an RTX 5070, you’ll need to enable DLSS. A PSN account isn’t required for the single-player campaign.

Ghost of Tsushima on PC: what you need to know

Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut launched on PC on 16 May 2024 on Steam and the Epic Games Store, brought to you by Nixxes Software. This version includes the Iki Island expansion and the cooperative mode Legends, with support for ultrawide displays (21:9, 32:9 and even 48:9), unlocked frame rate, and the wired haptic feedback of the DualSense.

As for upscaling, the game handles everything that exists: DLSS 3 with frame generation, FSR 3 with frame generation, XeSS, as well as DLAA and FSR 3 Native AA. That’s what makes 4K reachable without the most expensive graphics cards.

Gamer PC setup with large screen, headset and ambient lighting

Ghost of Tsushima is one of Sony’s most successful PC ports: ideal for a large 4K display.

Two takeaways. The processor isn’t the hard part: a Core i5-11400 or a Ryzen 5 5600 is enough, even in 4K. And video memory stays reasonable: TechPowerUp measured around 10 GB of VRAM in 4K at maximum settings, a little under 12 GB with frame generation. So a 16 GB card is plenty.

Our take: for 4K at 60 FPS without compromises, aim for at least an RX 9070, an RTX 5070 Ti, or an RX 9070 XT. The RX 9070 XT even does better than the RTX 5070 Ti in this game. With a RTX 5070 or an RX 7800 XT, you’re around 55 FPS: DLSS or FSR in Quality mode brings you back towards 60 FPS with no visible loss on a 4K screen. ComputerBase measured 60 FPS in 4K with Quality upscaling on an RTX 4070 Super, a card of similar level.

For the most demanding, the RTX 5090 reached 129 FPS in 4K in TechPowerUp’s January 2025 test, with a different test suite: enough to target a 4K screen at 120 Hz.

DLSS, FSR or XeSS: which settings for 4K?

On a GeForce, enable DLSS in Quality mode: in 4K, the difference with the native image is hard to see, and the gain is clear. DLSS 3 frame generation is interesting if you’re already around 60 FPS and aiming for a 120 Hz (or higher) display.

On a Radeon, the FSR 3 does the same job, and its frame generation can work by itself, without upscaling (ComputerBase noted this at launch). If your card has some headroom, prefer DLAA or FSR Native AA: the cleanest anti-aliasing, in native 4K.

Finally, the Very high preset isn’t the maximum: shadows and volumetric fog still have one more step up, “Ultra”. If you’re short on frames, that’s where you should start.

PSN account: required or not?

No for the campaign: the PlayStation Network account is only required for the online Legends mode and the PlayStation overlay. At launch, the game was removed from Steam in more than 170 countries where PSN isn’t available. Since the update of 27 October 2025, Legends has become a separate free DLC and the game is available again in those regions.
