RTX 5060 vs RTX 5060 Ti (8 or 16 GB): which one to choose in 2026?

Specifications, measured FPS, and our advice

By the FlowUP team, gaming PC builder in Genappe (Belgium) · Updated 29 September 2026

In brief: the RTX 5060 Ti has 20% more CUDA cores than the RTX 5060 (4,608 vs 3,840) and comes in 8 or 16 GB, whereas the RTX 5060 only has 8 GB. US launch pricing: $299 for the 5060, $379 for the 5060 Ti 8 GB, $429 for the 5060 Ti 16 GB. Our advice: the RTX 5060 for 1080p on a small budget, and if you step up to the 5060 Ti, go for the 16 GB version: the tests show massive FPS drops on the 8 GB model as soon as the memory fills up, especially at 1440p.

Two cards, three versions

NVIDIA launched the RTX 5060 Ti on 16 April 2025 in two versions, 8 GB and 16 GB, followed by the RTX 5060 on 19 May 2025. On paper, they’re very similar: the same GDDR7 memory on a 128-bit bus, the same Blackwell generation, DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation. In reality, the amount of video memory makes a much bigger difference than the performance gap between the two chips.

The performance gap

With the same amount of memory, the RTX 5060 Ti is one step ahead of the RTX 5060, in line with its 20% extra cores. Example in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 (ComputerBase, November 2025, 1440p with upscaling): 92 FPS for the 5060 Ti versus 83 for the 5060.

The real issue is the memory. When a game goes beyond 8 GB, the FPS don’t just drop a little, they collapse:

The Last of Us Part II, 4KJust over 30 FPS68 FPSTechSpot, April 2025
Forza Horizon 6, Extreme with ray tracingDrops to around 30 FPS after 12 minutesStableTechSpot, May 2026
Dragon Age: The Veilguard, PCIe 3.027 FPS66 FPSTechSpot, June 2025

ComputerBase summed it up this way in its test across 26 games at 1440p (May 2025): the era of 8 GB video memory is over. And on an older motherboard with PCIe 4.0 or 3.0, the x8 link makes the loss worse when the memory fills up.
